So...why the title you ask? I realize that traditionally, the role of the wife is to cook, clean, sew, all that fun stuff. Let's see. I don't mind a clean house or the work it takes to get it that way. I love compliments. I'll be honest, when people say "cute house" etc. I love it! Lately I've been hearing "you are your mothers child" and you know what? I really don't mind it. My mother always has a clean house.
I like to bake sweets, maybe its just because I have fun memories of times when I have baked. That's fun and it doesn't feel like work. Cooking? My culinary skills don't go much past Hamburger Helper. Ok, that's a lie, I make a mean Chicken Helper as well. Do I want to learn to cook? Yes...no. Ugh. Yes I do but there are a lot of terms I am unfamiliar with and that makes me nervous and I feel like it would take a lot of time to go look them up and blah blah. I realize it probably isn't that hard but, I lack the motivation. See, B doesn't exactly have a 9-5 job. He leaves the house at 6:30am and returns anytime between 5:30pm-11:30pm depending on whatever sporting events are taking place that day. Ah, the trainers life. So this schedule of his doesn't really have us on the same eating schedule. We rarely get to sit down to dinner together. Leaving me to fend for myself, I usually end up eating something quick for 1. Sigh.
As for sewing, I popped a button on my pants recently and I need to figure out how to mend this. And I mean that in more than just the literal sense. I am currently addressing the reason why that button popped in the first place. :( My grandma was a seamstress, she could make anything you wanted her to. She tried to teach me how to sew, many times. Did I pay attention? Not really. Something I am kicking myself for now believe me. Just like how she tried to teach my to play piano and speak Spanish.
So...it was my new years resolution last year to learn to cook more. That lasted for about 2 months. B enjoyed it and I feel that I have let him down. So, once again, I am going to try to stick to it this time. I think he deserves a little something more than Cheesy Chicken Quesadilla every once in awhile!
