Bed rest day 1

BORING!!! Ugh. So I managed to gain 9 lbs (pause for horror) since last week and I'm pretty sure its all in my feet. They literally hurt when standing for more than a few mins, horrible feeling. My doc said my face looked puffy and my usually normal blood pressure was 162/110. So she wanted to send me next door to the hospital for some tests to rule out pre-clampsia, etc. (Pretty sure that few hours will end up costing me $600 just like last time-yay!)

So I call B and off I went to let them draw blood and take my blood pressure about 35 times. My bp was WAY better laying down then even sitting in the bed so...I was told to go home and lay down. Also I get to trap my pee for 24 hrs and go back to the doc tomorrow with a jug. I am currently trying to figure out how I am going to carry that around without grossing people out.

Good news/scary news is: the doc thinks I will not be going another 3 weeks at this rate cause the swelling and whatnot are good indicators that its going to be sooner rather than later. Still trying to mentally prepare for that! We would ideally like her to still hold off another week or so but, we'll see what happens when I go back tomorrow!

In the meantime, if I'm going to be put on bed rest the rest of the time, I'm seriously going to need something to do. I feel so fat and lazy already and laying around isn't helping!!!

Dreams

Ok so the level of excitement/anxiety has reached new heights. Last night I dreamt about my baby. I was holding her and could see her face clearly, but now I can't remember who she looked like. She had my color hair. She was barely 8 lbs. I remember the first time we tried nursing it was effortless (one can dream right?) and easy. It was very strange. I told B it was an exciting feeling that this new person would forever be joining our family and then at the same time it was almost kind of a sad feeling that its no longer just us. I realize as hard as it may be, she can only improve our life together but still, I guess it was a weak moment.

I did get quite a lot done on our to do list today. Only half the house is clean though so kiddo can't come just yet, not till its all done!

Is that you summer?

Um its mid Feb and its 77 degrees outside. Don't get me wrong, I love nice days, however, I don't think the heat is helping my Flinstone feet right now. Yes they are still swollen and have been EVERY DAY THIS WEEK!! They feel tight and my calves are so swollen right now its making my jeans feel tight around my legs. I have a crate under my desk but the way my stuff sits its impossible to really get comfortable with my feet up or keep them up for long periods of time. I feel SO disgusting and lazy this week because I can't even put my tennis shoes on to work out. I'm over it!! :(

3 weeks to go!!

Maybe... Oh I have this huge to do list in my head so I may just type it all out here so I don't forget anything. The shocking fact that baby A may make her arrival at any time now is looming over our heads-ah! Let's see I need to:

-seriously clean the WHOLE house and make sure it stays clean (pretty much a list within this list!)
-mail back my jury duty ppwk with my doc note saying "in your face!"
-go to Hobby Lobby and get a wire put on the back of this picture frame to hang in her room
-download pics from the last 2 showers
-finish Thank you notes (buy more thank you notes!)
-clean the cars
-install and figure out how the carseat works
-pack a bag for the hospital (this has its own long list)
-make some returns/exchanges at Target and Babies R Us (each store has its own list!)
-buy things we're still lacking
-finish filing our taxes
-find out Monday from the doc if my water doesnt break on its own, at one point am I supposed to be going to the hospital
-take Cooper to the vet

Well, there's still more but this should get me through Monday at least! Ah! Did I mention B works tonight and tomorrow so he can't join in on the fun till Sunday. Poor guy has worked every day this week except Valentine's. At least we got that together.

Cankles!!!

Sexy huh? I've had swollen feet a few times this last month or so but this time, its been like 4 days straight. And these are just the am cankles! The pm cankles look way worse! My doc said my bp was normal and as long as it stayed that way she wasn't concerned. Also, that she's seen way worse. I was like wow! Cause at the end of the day I can't even get my shoes on! Oh joy :(

Time To Get Serious!!!

We have 4 weeks left (technically) and the realization that this could happen at any time is starting to set in! So this morning at my doctors appt I told B "omg we seriously need to clean the house and MAKE SURE IT STAYS CLEAN!!!" Cause our parents are coming and we cannot go into labor randomly and our house be a mess. You know you dont want your parents seeing your house gross either come on! Ah. Also, I was lazy when I got home yesterday and just put everything from the shower this weekend on the floor of her room and left it. I guess I know what I'll be doing this week!

The shower turned out great! Thanks to Terri who is awesome 1) for throwing us a shower 2) for rescheduling the shower due to crappy weather!! I'll post pics later. But she had the cutest cupcakes for us!!

Blissfully Unaware

So...its occured to me recently that I seem to be blissfully unaware of a lot of potential issues that can go on during birth. This is sort of a good thing cause I guess I don't know about some things and so I don't worry about them. However, this is a bad thing because I don't know about them and what if the situation happens to me? This all started with that new show "One Born Every Minute" on Lifetime. The commercials made it out to be like more comedic reality tv but its really just kind of blah.

Anyways, so on the episode I watched the woman had pushed for over 2 hours and they were saying she had the turtle issue going on, in that the head would start to come out but go back in and this to the nurses was indicating that the shoulders might be too big, which indicated some problem called shoulder something-or-other. Never have I heard of this but evidently shoulders getting stuck is a serious issue because there could be nerve damage of the arm which could equal paralysis, death for the baby and other issues. So this poor woman is exhausted because she is getting nowhere and there is a nurse practically sitting on top of her at one point trying to pull that baby out and when they finally do they are calling the NICU and the baby is quiet etc. Eventually, everything is good and the baby cries much to everyones relief.

So now I'm wondering, should I be more concerned? Should I be reading more on the internet about all the things that could go wrong? I know it will just freak me out but I guess I would freak out if (knock on wood) something happens to us and I had never known whatever could be a problem, etc.

Sounds kind of vain but at this point, I guess most of my concerns have been with the possibility of things tearing and extreme hemoroids and things along those lines.

I pray for a healthy, mentally and physically, baby with no complications on my end or her end.

Oh the weather outside is weather...

Any Forgetting Sarah Marshall fans out there? Piopi? No? K.
It's cold here. Evidently not as cold as it is back home in the DFW area, who had their 5th snow day within a week. That's pretty much unheard of. Never in all my years living there did we ever get more than 2 days in a row. One thing that is kind of funny though is that I don't think any of those poor kids thought at the time, they get to make up those days at school lol.

Let's see this week has been a busy one. Let me run down the list of goings on:
-Got summoned for jury duty for March 7th. (FYI-Don't do what I did and run your mouth saying out loud "I've never been called!" cause it will happen. Stupid Karma. )Yeah see that won't work seeing as how I could possibly have a baby by then! So, had to track down the right person at the district clerks office to find out what exactly I had to do to get out of that one. Just need a doctors note! Sweet!
-Finally making some progress with our neighbors and realty company on getting the fence fixed. Seems like after 2 1/2 years everyone is ready to get on with it already.
-Hoping that there is no more ice here or at home this weekend so I can drive up tomorrow for our rescheduled family baby shower. Fingers crossed!
-I joined a book club! Virtually that is. Since I'm not there to attend meetings and whatnot, the girls started a group on FB so I can still be up to speed on the selections and the goings on.
-I finally got up the nerve to ask my boss if it was possible for me to work from home for a few weeks in May. Seeing as how technically my leave is up about 4 weeks before B is out for the summer. We didn't really want to pay the money to put her in daycare for 4 weeks just to take her out again for 3 months. So...we got some things worked out and I am blessed to have a very understanding boss and CEO who are willing to help me on this cause it was approved! Yay!

Good read!

I am currently reading "The Glass Castle" by Jeanette Walls and I am into it! This poor woman has endured some really hard things in life. I can't even imagine. She will also be our guest speaker at an event my work is hosting in May so I'm anxious to hear her speak then also.

I highly reccomend this book. Basically her parents are the hottest of hot messes and her and her 2 sisters and brother are forced to live this horrible life of poverty due to their laziness. Her father is an alcoholic who job hops constantly. Her mom is a wanna be artist who is one of those "someday I'm gonna be somebody" people who never amounts to anything but refuses to work a common job in the meantime. I would give situations as examples but I don't want to give anything away. Read it!

Going Weekly!

Ok we've started the weekly appointments now! Ah! So scary! Next week we do a sonogram to see where she is. I know I asked the doc last time if she was up and down and she said yes but she couldn't tell if it was a butt or a head up top so...I guess we'll see. So I get to spend Valentine's day with the most important people in my life, my hubby, my baby, and my doctor!

This was a weird weekend. We were supposed to go home for our family shower but since DFW has had more snow since we moved to Houston than ever, this was no different. They had an unheard of 4 days of snow and ice. So, since all we got here was a day of black ice, it made it a little difficult to get up there. Plus, we weren't sure who all would venture out in the weather to come even if we had made it up there. So, Terri was nice enough to offer to try again this weekend. Fingers crossed!

So, we got released from work at noon on Thursday because the "snow" was supposed to start that afternoon. Then, nothing happened. So we woke up Friday to no snow but on the news they were saying every road was covered in ice and dont leave the house. I'm not a 9 yr old but I too was a little dissapointed all we got was ice and no snow. So then Saturday it was still a little icy but turned out to be a nice day.
